Now that Tom Cruise has been annointed as the "Christ" of Scientology, we have another example of mistaken identity in a man claiming to be the second coming of Christ, read about it here.
What a sad thing, the deception is evident. Jesus warned us that many will come in His name claiming, here He is. Based on their doctrine, the rejection of all things biblical Christianity, this is clearly a potentially dangerous cult that will likely have a bad end. Jim Jones never had as large of a following as this guy, to my knowledge. Pray for the people that are deceived and for the one doing the deceiving. May the real Jesus reveal Himself and turn back this foolishness.

I’m writing you to ask for your help. The story you ran today, based on a “report” by one of England’s worst tabloids “The Sun”, is 100% false. It is also harmful, libelous and foments incorrect notions about my religion Scientology so as to cause strife and intolerance. I need your help to set the record straight.
In actual fact, nobody within the Church of Scientology considers themselves to be “Christ-like” – this would be a very inappropriate and arrogant comment and I’m sure you can see how this is being used only to antagonize Christians everywhere.
We Scientologists appreciate Tom Cruise’s efforts as a spokesperson of many of our Church’s initiatives. But he’s just an actor, holds no rank within our Church, and is by NO MEANS a “prophet” – and I am certain he himself would be embarrassed at the thought.
I hope you can help me in setting the record straight. The “Sun” is lying. You can see the Church’s official statement here: http://news.bostonherald.com/letters/view.bg?articleid=179702

Thank you.

PS: By the way, you might remember that, before he dared speak out against Big Pharma, Tom Cruise was a generally well-liked actor. If you think about it, standing on a couch is not *that* big a deal. The fact is that the drug companies have engaged in a whisper campaign of character assassination on this actor. And with good reason: since Cruise spoke out, sales of Ritalin are down 21% in USA, sales of Paxil are now banned in the UK by the UK FDA, and the U.S. FDA requires blackbox labels on all antidepressants. And Big Pharma is mad, their pockets have taken the hit.
Stop harassing Christians for voicing their opinion Greg. You have gone all over the internet telling Believers what to do on their blogs and messageboards.
Use some other method to spread your lies and hatred of Psychiatry.
Have some respect yourself. You need prayer.
Anonymous,
Thanks for monitoring the blogs for any mention of Tom or Scientology. I feel better knowing you're out there to correct such ideas (though I suspect this is merely a form letter).
To me they are a joke as well. But if you actually read the post you'd see it wasn't really about Tom at all. He was merely a means to introduce a more serious and dangerous example of false teachings and religions. For full disclosure, I would gladly put Scientology in this catagory, theologicially speaking. I have no doubt there are kind and generous members of Hubbard's writings, I just consider them deceived. And no amount of intimidation or threat of lawsuit will change my mind on that.
Thanks for stopping by my humble blog--I pray the words of the Bible will be opened to you and Jesus will truly reveal His identity, purpose and glory. If you ever come back and have any questions, I'd be happy to address them as best I can.
